Hui about education

PA Hamilton Maori and Pacific Island views on secondary education will be canvassed at a national three-day meeting (hui) on Huntly’s Waahi marae in April, said the Post-Primary Teachers’ Association field officer, Mr Peter Timmins. Mr Timmins said that the P.P.T.A. would form policies on Maori education on

the basis of what it learnt at the hui. “We want parents, students, and concerned citizens to come and be heard, and we want experts and professionals coming to listen,” he said. Sponsored by the P.P.T.A., the three-day meeting will be conducted in both Maori and English. Invitations to the hui have been sent to every post-primary school in New Zealand. 4
