NZFP criticism

A former managing director of N.Z. Forest Products, Ltd, Mr A. W. Mackney, is critical of the way that the company has kept its shareholders informed of the bid for Wattie Industries, Ltd.

Mr Mackney, who was managing director of NZFP from 1973 until 1978, said that NZFP had never really spelled out the benefits to its shareholders of the proposed take-over of Wattie’s. . ... . Yet the shareholders were the owners of the company, for whom the directors worked, he said.

An NZFP company spokesman said: “Negotiations are still going on between the parties. No formal move has been made at this stage to provide the New Zealand stock exchange with a statement.”
