Kenny Rogers to tour N.Z.

Kenny Rogers, a leading American country-pop singer, will tour New Zealand for the first time in 10 years next month, beginning in Christchurch, at Queen Elizabeth II Park on March 6.

Rogers will also perform in Wellington on March 9 and Auckland on March 11. He will also tour Australia and Hawaii.

Rogers previously toured New Zealand with the First Edition 10 years ago. He has never been to Australia or Hawaii.

The Rogers' entourage numbers 36, and all members fly first class. Rogers will travel in his own DC9 aircraft with members of his family, including his wife, Marianne, and his son. Christopher, aged three. Kenny Rogers lives on a 480 ha cattle farm in Georgia with houses in Malibu, Bel Air, and Beverly Hills. He also owns the Lion’s Share recording studio. He is reputed to be one of the wealthiest of the world’s “superstars."
