Fellowships for two
PA Wellington A broadcaster, Sharon Crosbie, and the deputy medical superintendent at Dunedin Hospital, Dr Karen Poutasi, have been awarded Harkness Fellowships. The award enables potential leaders from New Zealand, Australia, and the
United Kingdom to study and travel in the United States to learn about American customs, institutions and ways of thinking. Ms Crosbie will study either at Harvard University or at the Columbia University’s post-graduate
school of journalism to gain advanced training in broadcasting journalism and new insights to issues affecting New Zealand. Dr Poutasi will study public health administration, health policies, and the quality of health care while she is in the United States.
