Shock kills woman

PA Tauranga The death of a Tauranga woman while rigging a yacht at Ongare Point, Katikati on Sunday, has led to renewed calls for underground power lines in the area. She was Mary-Louise Heeney, aged 25, who died after suffering an electric shock from 11,000 volt hightension lines at 10.50

a.m. on Sunday. She was helping erect an aluminium mast on a catamaran when the mast touched the power lines. Resuscitation attempts by yacht club members failed. The distribution engineer for the Tauranga Electric Power Board, Mr E. J. Hussey, said that the power lines had been measured at 7.65 m, which was at least lm above regulation height.
