Waimairi scheme sells well
Copies of the recently published Waimairi District Scheme are selling well. “There has been quite a rush on them,” said the council’s district planner, Mr D. D. Hinman.
The long planning document was selling for $25 a copy. Purchasers were mainly town planners, lawyers, and those in the real estate business but some individuals and community organisations were also buying it, he said. A reprint would be necessary if the 350 copies issued sold out.
The scheme is on sale at the council’s offices in Fendalton and in Manchester Street and Parklands. It is also on view at the district libraries. Mr Hinman said reaction to the scheme had been favourable. Most people found it easy to understand although some were initially deterred by its size.
