Yard to be auctioned

A public auction of the Christchurch City Council’s former central city works yard will be held on Friday. The industrially zoned South Belt Yard site is at the north-west corner of the intersection of Moorhouse Avenue and Montreal Street.

It is bounded by St David Street on its other two sides. Activities at the site have been concentrated at the new central works depot in Sydenham. Proceeds from a Moorhouse Avenue property sale would go to the yard and depot renewal fund. W. E. Simes and Company and Pacific Real Estate, Ltd, were appointed joint agents for the sale. The property will be offered first as 6444 square metres (1.6 acres), then as 7184 square metres (1.77 acres) if it is not sold. The site has a potential for subdivision.
