Mr Carter to visit
PA Palmerston North The former United States President, Mr Jimmy Carter, will visit New Zealand next February. Mr Carter, President from 1976 to 1980, will be guest speaker at a charity dinner organised by Lions clubs in Palmerston North. It will be Mr Carter’s only speaking engagement during his three-day visit to the city with Mrs Carter. Full details of the
Carters’ itinerary in New Zealand are still being finalised and have yet to be approved by Mr Carter. However, it is believed that as well as the Lloyd Morgan Trust charity dinner, plans include visits to sheep and cattle farms, thoroughbred studs, and general sightseeing. The Carters also hope to spend time at Lake Taupo where Mr Carter can try his favourite pastime of trout fishing.
