Book on unsolved murder

PA Auckland The murder of an elderly Foxton woman is officially listed on police records as unsolved. But after two years work, a Foxton journalist, Anne Hunt, says she knows who was responsible for the killing. She will publish this month, her book about the murder and subsequent trials of a youth who was acquitted of the killing. For legal reasons she has not been allowed to publish all her conclusions, but she promises “copious conflicting clues” for the discerning armchair detective. The murder victim, Miss Loma Robinson, died from multiple stab wounds on January 14, 1981. A local youth was charged with the murder and was convicted. Subsequently, the Court of Appeal quashed the conviction and ordered a fresh trial, ruling that a statement which the youth made to the police, and which formed part of the prosecution evidence at the first trial, was inadmissible. The youth was acquitted after a second trial.

The book, “The Foxton Murder,” will bq on sale after November 14.
