Kind Nature in top form

Kind Nature, away from the winning list since February 19, came back to form in style in the Mazda Handicap at Addington Raceway last evening. Kind Nature muffed the start, but recovered fairly quickly only to be left in the open for the rest of the race. Mighty Me made most of the pace, with Kind Nature racing past him about 100 m from the end. He came home in grand style and held on bravely to win by half a length from a solid finisher in Ansett, which paced her best race for some time.

Kind Nature was driven by Gavin Hampton, who earlier in the day was successful in his request for a review of the penalty imposed on him at Greymouth last Monday. The emergency committee of the Trotting Conference remitted his suspension. A six-year-old gelding by Armbro Del from Kind Ges-

ture, Kind Nature is trained at Weedons by Jim Curragh. who races him in partnership with Miss Evelyn Redmond.

His win advanced him to a C 9 assessment, but there are no plans to attempt to qualify him for the New Zealand Cup.

Ansett was prominently placed most of the way and came home strongly almost two lengths in front of the third horse. Mighty Me, which set the pace. Take Aim, handy all the way, lasted for fourth, ahead of Borana.

The firm favourite, Joy Boy, broke hopelessly at the start and did well to finish eighth.

Hilarious Guest returned a shocking effort. She was handy enough until the 400 m, at which point she began to drop away and she finished a dismal last, behind Stortford Lodge, which broke badly with about 850 m to run.
