No plans for school computers

PA Wellington The Government has no plans to introduce computers in primary schools, the Minister of Education, Mr Wellington, has said. Answering a question in Parliament, he said the Government’s first priority had been to provide computers in universities and technical institutes. It had also assisted secondary schools in obtaining computers through special grants.

A number of primary schools did have microcomputers, Mr Wellington said. They had been provided by local groups and were “a compliment to the initiative of people at a local level.”
