Canty just beaten in badminton

The title-holder, Canterbury, suffered a narrow loss to North Shore, 19 sets to 18, during the first round of the New Zealand junior inter-pro-vincial badminton championship at Skellerup Hall yesterday.

Although Canterbury won all of the girls’ singles and doubles events, it could add victories in only one boys’ singles and one mixed doubles. North Shore fared better in the count-back after each team had finished with eight match wins.
