Fencing pools

Sir,—After continuing pressure from lobbyists for compulsory pool fencing, “The Press” reports yet another urgent appeal for action. Many pool owners keep their pools empty, thousands more fill them for only two or three weeks each year and the majority of those who do, responsibly protect the children using or exposed to their pools. Now, as a Parliamentary select committee is sitting on this bill, we could see as a result of this latest lobbying yet another unjust, unwarranted intrusion into and restriction on the lives of many responsible citizens. Of new and great interest is Bob Jones’s New Zealand Party, , which intends to rectify just such authoritarian, bureaucratic situations that are increasingly bedevill-

ing and straitjacketing our freedoms. For this reason, many like ourselves are taking an increasing interest in this new party. Surely the Government is getting the message. — Yours, etc., C. D.and G. S. BRYANT. August 24, 1983.
