Dedication service for chapel

A special dedication service will be held at the Cashmere Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints tomorrow.

The service will be held at 4 p.m. in the chapel at 79 Ashgrove Terrace. The church’s regional representative, Elder John Turner, will give the dedicatory prayer. The Mayor of Christchurch, Sir Hamish Hay, will attend the service.

An open house will be held at the chapel from 10 a.m. Visitors will be able to tour the chapel, ‘ watch films, and see static displays on aspects of the church.

The $500,000 chapel was finished in March, 1980. The delay between its completion and dedication was to allow all bills to be paid and any faults in the building to be found and rectified.
