Poll for Q’land

NZPA Brisbane The Queensland Premier, Mrs Joh Bjelke-Petersen, said yesterday that he expected to announce the date for the state’s General Election on Monday — the fourth day of minority National Party Government. Asked at a news conference if there were any reasons for not declaring the date yesterday, he said that he was trying to deal with one issue a day. He called the news conference to announce that the Governor, Sir Commodore James Ramsay, had accepted the resignations from the Cabinet of the seven ■ Liberal Ministers and would swear in replacements from the National Party today. Mr Bjelke-Petersen said that Parliament would not have to be recalled before the election because the Government would be tested by the people at the polls.
