Two-day cycle tour

The Hornby Professional Cycling club will hold its first two-day tour for over 20 years this weekend. The 247 km tour of North Canterbury has drawn entries from the West Coast, Mid and South Canterbury, as well as local competitors.

It will carry a stake of over $lOOO. Steven Doherty, of Christchurch, is expected to be well up with the leaders at the finish, and is likely to be pushed hard by the MidCanterbury trio of Simon McDonnell, Steve Roulston and Owen Wylie.
