Grant to Redwood School

Parliamentary reporter

A maximum of $13,000 in Government assistance would be available to the Redwood School Committee for building a hall, said the Minister of Education, Mr Wellington, yesterday. Answering questions by Mr M. K. Moore (Lab., Papanui), Mr Wellington said the Government could also provide architectural services for the hall’s design and supervision of the construction contract.

He could not respond to a request from the committee to allow the use of two surplus classrooms for a hall.

This was because he was awaiting responses to the Woodward Report’s recommendations on surplus primary school accommodation, he said.

An announcement on the report’s recommendations will be made later this year.
