Wellington league side
The scrum-half, Gary Campbell, will captain an experienced Wellington rugby league team against Canterbury at the Show Grounds o’n Saturday. All seven backs have played for Central Districts, and the centre and 1980 Kiwi, Nolan Tupaea, was on stand-by for the Kiwis before the second test against Australia at Brisbane last month. Peter Mellars, who toured Australia with the Kiwis last year, leads a pack that also includes the former Junior Kiwi, Sam Stewart, and the very promising Philip Henry. The Wellington team is— Arnold Hema; George Lajpold, Nolan Tupaea, Wayne Rutene, Lance Pupuke; Gerard Katene, Gary Campbell; Bill Waihi, Elvis Williams, Peter Mellars; Mike Kuiti, Sam Stewart; Philip Henry. Reserves: Monty Henry, John Studd.
