Special correspondent Cambridge The brilliant jumper, Loughrae, which scored a thrilling all-the-way win in the Waikato Steeples at Te Rapa at his last start, has been retired. Loughrae’s trainer, Laurie Laxon, who returned from an overseas trip at the week-end, said yesterday that rather than accept a probable invitation to run Loughrae in the Colonial Cup International Steeples at Camden, South Carolina, next November, the owner, Mr Ashley Daley, of Te Puke, had decided to retire the gelding.
