Luxury liner’s maiden call

New Zealand’s travel industry will receive a boost when one of the world’s latest luxury liners makes her maiden call next year. The 33,819-ton Europa is due at Auckland in March and her agent, Seabridge New Zealand, says her 600 passengers will travel extensively throughout New Zealand during the visit. Seabridge expects that the New Zealand visit will become a permanent feature of future world cruises by the Europa when calls will’ be made at other ports. However, on her first visit she is scheduled to call at only Auckland, on March 11, and Wellington, on March 13. The Hapag Lloyd liner was built in 1981 specifically for luxury cruising. During next year’s threemonth round-the-world voyage she will visit 40 ports.
