Scientist defects
A Chinese scientist attending an international conference in Canada had defected to Taiwan, reports the official Central Daily News. The ruling Kuomintang (Nationalist) Party newspaper said that Keh Cheng Ming, aged about 50, and a professor of physics at the Chiaotung University in Shanghai, defected to Taiwan while attending an international physics conference in Vancouver—Taipei.
