Radley Street traffic
Sir,—l sympathise with L. A. Davidson (June 9) in his concern over traffic using Lakewood Drive, but being a resident of Radley Street for 35 years, we have a reasonable burden of traffic which is often very busy. We are not objecting to this, but to the use of the street as a short cut by large shingle trucks usually pulling trailers thundering along (sounds like thunder) sometimes several together, from early morning all day, six days a week. Other large vehicles are using the street in increasing numbers. Though a secondary street, it was not built for such heavy traffic and is being damaged. Properties are also suffering from the vibration. Other streets nearby have been designed for this traffic. At a bad bend in the street several accidents have occurred involving injuries and damage to property, and residents are concerned that a large vehicle could be involved in one as some cut this corner.—Yours, etc., Mrs D. BROMLEY. June 14, 1983
