Ferrier trust grants

A $27,500 grant to the Salvation Army in Christchurch heads the list of gifts from the Jack and Marjorie Ferrier Charitable Trust during 1982 and 1983. ' Almost all of the grants, totalling $83,000, have gone to organisations in Canterbury. The Mayor of Christchurch’s Welfare Fund receives $7OOO. Other grants (to groups in Canterbury unless otherwise stated) were: Catholic Social Services, Methodist Central Mission, Christchurch City Mission, and the Christchurch National Marae, $5OOO each. The Nurse Maude Medical Hospital receives $3OOO, and the National Youth Choir of New Zealand $2OOO. Grants of $lOOO were given to Te Wai Pounamu College, Barnardos (N.Z.), Canterbury Girl Guide Association, Boy Scouts Association, Boys Brigade — for its Waipara building programme — Canterbury Aged People’s Welfare Council, 6A, Prisoners’ Aid and Rehabilitation Society of Canterbury and Westland, Christchurch Children’s Holiday Camps Trust, Laura Fergusson Trust for Disabled Persons, Ryder-Cheshire Foundation, Bishopric of Aotearoa

(Rotorua), St Dominic House Trust Foundation, and the Canterbury Workers’ Educational Association. Grants of $5OO were given to the Parish of Avonside, lona Community, Canterbury Community Council on Alcohol, C.0.P.E., Crichton Cobbers Youth Club, Calvary Clinic, Arthur’s Pass Interdenominational Chapel Committee, Regional Women’s Decade' Committee, and the Canterbury Youth Groups Promotion Council.
