Unix agreement

Western Electric (the manufacturing arm of American Telephone and Telegraph) is widening the reach of its Unix operating system by entering into development agreements with Intel, Motorola, and National Semiconductor — three of the largest United States chip manufacturers. Under the agreements, Unix Svstem V will'be de-

veloped for the Intel iAPX 286, the Motorola 68000, and the National Semiconductor 16032 microprocessors. This would make a standard Unix system available on a large range of microcomputer systems, providing an even greater market for an operating system that is rapidly becoming the preferred choice for larger microcomnuters.
