States, fired a six-under-par 65 yesterday to take a onestroke lead over the crowd’s favourite, Lee Trevino. His 54-hole total was 206, seven under par on the Woodlands Country Club course. Charles’s 72 brought him to a third-round total of 217, well back in the field.
