Chathams rugby visit
The British Lions will not be the only overseas rugby team visiting Christchurch this winter. Also coming is a Chatham Islands side. Chatham Islands is, in fact, attached to the Canterbury Rugby Sub-unions’ Association ana the association’s parent ' body, the Canterbury Rugby Union, learnt at its meeting last evening that a tour was planned. Mr P. Robinson, on behalf of the sub-unions, said that the Chathams, which has three intends to play mat®es in both the North ana Soutß'lslands when the visit
takes place in August. Mr Robinson fielded a question as to whether the Ranfurly Shield would be safe by indicating that a match against one of the Canterbury sub-unions would probably be all that the visitors required. The union suspended for three weeks three players ordered off last Saturday for punching. They are B. Flower (Parklands second grade), B. McNaughton (H.S.OJB. under--19) and a sixth grade player, whose name and club' were not The sixth grqde player-ijwas also alleged -,fc have ftfed foul language. *
