’Copter in surf rescue
PA Auckland A young surfer clung to a helicopter skid yesterday as he was flown to safety from surf-lashed rocks near Muriwai, an Auckland west coast beach. The pilot of the Pihabased rescue helicopter, Mr Rex Nawalaniec, landed on the rocks on one skid. A crewman, Mr Philip Brown, pulled the surfer, Mr Peter Broad, aged 18, and his surfboard on to one skid.
