No lamb delay

NZPA staff correspondent London British butchers have been assured that new season's New Zealand lamb would be available for sale to the trade at the end of this month. The assurance came from the Meat Board's London office which said some butchers had expressed concern about the delay in the availability of new season's lamb. The delay had been caused by the drawing up of agreements with importing companies to act as agents for

the board in Britain taking longer than anticipated, a board spokesman said. However, discussions were now well advanced and new season's lamb would be available from February 28, he said. Although the board has assumed ownership of all export lamb for the current season, the produce is still being marketed through traditional channels. The board intends to sell at more than 60p (about SNZI.2B) per lb delivered exship.
