Tramper hurt by falling rock
Greymouth reporter A young Auckland tramper. Paul Richardson, suffered injuries to the head and a hand when struck on Wednesday, by a falling rock in the area of Trudge Stream, a headwater feeder of the Poulter River, in the Arthur's Pass National Park. He was lifted out by helicopter, flown by Mr J. Dixon, of Hokitika, yesterday morning and admitted to the Grey Hospital. Mr Richardson was with three companions when the accident occurred. One remained with him while the other two walked out to the Casey Hut on the Poulter River where they got in touch with the Arthurs Pass National Park Board.
