‘Tootsie’ popular
NZPA Hollywood “Tootsie,” Dustin Hoffman’s comedy about an actor who finds stardom when he poses as a woman, collected more than $l5 million over New Year’s week-end, leading a box-office bonanza, according to studio figures. Receipts for seven successful films over the three-day week-end totalled $52 million. The other films in-
eluded “The Toy," “The Dark Crystal,” “48 Hrs,” “Airplane II: The Sequel,” “Best Friends” and “The Verdict.” Losers included “Six Weeks,” “Trail of the Pink Panther.” “Still of the Night’ and “Honkytonk Man.” Columbia pictures’ “Tootsie,” playing in 1020 theatres had a 17-day total of almost $55 million.
