Scored four lengths win in his debut at Wanganui on December 21. Has thrived in training, and looks like repeating. Runner-up to Miles Better in the Invercargill Gold Cup last year when she raced keenly, this talented mare looks capable of going one better in her present form with an extra year on her. Thames TRAFFICKER (Race 6) ch f. 3yrs. by Smuggler — Maple Lass; trained at Matamata by J. Gibbs and R. James. Big run in straight for third in three-year-old fillies' race at Auckland on December 29 and should be improved by that run. Wellington SPANGLED PRIDE (Race 9) b g. 4 yrs. by Game Pride — Spangled Key; trained at Templeton by W. Fletcher. Checked at start in last outing at Addington on New Year's Day but earlier form was two seconds and a win from three starts. Should go close.
