The Dimple appeals in Invercargill Gold Cup

Special correspondent Invercargill The Dimple, runner-up to Miles Better in last year’s contest, is favoured to win the $25,000 group three Invercargill Gold Cup feature race and first leg of the T.A.B. double, at the Southland Racing Club’s meeting tomorrow.

It would not be beyond her stablemate, The Vision, to round off the double for the Dennis brothers in the Discount Food Plaza Handicap.

The Dimple might seem to have a limited racing background to fit her for the 2600 m feature but; like most of her close relations, requires little racing to reach peak. At her last start, the talented Noble Bijou mare beat her half-sister, The Twinkle, in the Timaru Cup. The Twinkle carried on to win the New Zealand Aluminium Smelters Stakes on the first day of the Southland meeting last Monday.
