Pavilion fire not arson

Detectives do not believe that the fire which damaged a cricket pavilion in St James Park. Papanui. on Thursday evening was arson. The police were called in after firemen found a door to the pavilion unlocked. A police spokesman said that the fire appeared to have started behind a water heater.

The pavilion was extensively damaged.
