Vandals hit Heathcote
Vandalism has again “reared its ugly head" in Heathcote, the county council's electricity committee has heard. The county electrical engineer, Mr I. R. Densem, reported to the committee that during November, three insulators had been badlydamaged by rifle fire on the Worsleys Road high tension line, and 12 street light fittings were damaged by air rifle or .22 rifle pellets in Shalamar Drive. Bengal
Drive, and Cashmere Road. Mr Densem was particularly concerned about shooting incidents at the Worsleys Road high tension line because it was near houses. ' The shots could cause a fault on the line and people could be without power, he said. The committee decided that pamphlets should be distributed alerting ratepayers to the problem and encouraging them to report any incidents to the council.
