Junior drivers’ titles in N.Z.
The Air New Zealand Australasian Junior Drivers' Championship will be held in Christchurch, Auckland and Hamilton on April 25, 27 and 29. The national champion and the winners of competitions in the North Island and the South Island will compete against representatives from each Australian state in a series of six races. Last season's joint winners of the' competition, run in Australia, were Peter Caldow of Australia, and Tony Herlihy, of New Zealand. Caldow was killed in a motor accident a few days after his
win. The format for the national series is unchanged, with six qualifying heats to be run in each island, followed by finals. The North Island final will be decided at the Morrinsville meeting on April 8. while that in the South Island will be at Forbury Park on March 31. The national final will be held for the first time at Invercargill on April 16. The island and national finals will consist of two penalty-free races, with the drivers allocated by ballot.
