Burnside works to start
PA Dunedin A basis for agreement to start work at the Burnside freezing works of Waitaki N.Z. Refrigerating, Ltd, was found yesterday at meetings between the-company’s management’ and the Meat Workers’ Union.It is expected the first chain will . start on Tuesday fand the rest wilt start soon afterwards. Once work has begun,- negotiations wilj be held on a number of unre-
solved issues; A joint agreement signed by both parties yesterday set out the disputed areas. The slaughtermen agreed unconditionally to withdraw a ban imposed since June on the hiring of learnerslaughtermen. New contracts proposed by Waitaki for three departments, the wool pressers, wool pullers and hydro paint table (or wool removal) will be kept to, but negotiations will’ not be dropped.
