Kiwifruit returns up
PA Tauranga Kiwifruit growers;can expect a 30 per cent higher return this year than'last, says the deputy chairman of the Kiwifruit Exporters’ Association, Mr • Graeme Rutherfurd. With only 60 to 70 per cent of the final crop sold, kiwifruit growers had already received as much in progress payments as their total final payment last season, he said. However, Mr Rutherfurd said he did not expect this season’s returns to Be sustained next year. “This year’s crop was low at 4.6 million trays. With about 10 million trays forecast for next Reason I have heard it said'the return is likely to be ari average of the past couple of seasons, excluding the present one,” he said.
