Driving behaviour ‘disturbing’
PA Wellington Many disturbing aspects of driving behaviour were seen during Labour Day week-end, said the Minister of Transport. Mr Gain. The bad driving resulted in 356 accidents, eight deaths, and 143 cases of injury. Traffic officers gave 617 breath screening tests, 403 evidential breath tests, and 175 blood tests.
The stopping of a boy, aged 14, for drinking and driving in Christchurch at the week-end was a dramatic illustration of the drink-drive problem. Mr Gair said..
