Safety certs for L.P.G. systems

The Ministry of Transport is concerned that owners of L.P.G. and C.N.G. fuelled vehicles will not have an inspection certificate by November 1. Alternative fuel safety regulations introduced in March this year stipulated that all vehicles already converted to L.P.G. or C.N.G. would have to pass a safety check and receive an inspection certificate by November 1. After November 1 a -vehicle must have this certificate if it is to be refuelled. Mr William Shearer, Director , of Road Transport

in the Ministry of Transport, said there were still many vehicles which had not received this certificate. He strongly advised motorists to have their vehicles checked now if they were to avoid what was likely to be a last-minute inspection rush. “It is imperative that motorists who have been slow to comply with the safety regulation quickly rectify the situation,’’ he said. ‘‘lf necessary, people can telephone the local Ministry of Transport office to find out the site of the nearest testing station.”
