Fourth defeat for Fijians
NZPA Edinburgh A Scottish XV handed the Fijian rugby tourists their fourth consecutive defeat on Saturday when it won 32-12 at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Park. The match was a triumph for full-back Andy Dods who scored 17 points with two tries, three conversions, and a penalty. Dods, resigned to a role as Andy Irvine’s understudy, was superb in defence and attack. He opened the scoring with a third-minute penalty and ended the match with a try in injury time. The Fijians were rarely able to display their dangerous running and handling skills and the margin could have been even greater if Johnston and centre Jim Renwick had. succeeded with simple dropped goal -attempts. .
In ’ addition, Scotland missed an easy four points
when winger Keith Robertson failed to with men unmarked outside him.' Centre David Johnstone, and loose forwards David Calder and John Beattie, scored- tries for Scotland while fly-half John Rutherford dropped a goal. For Fiji„ flanker Madruku scored a try which was converted by full-back Koroduadua, the tourists’ outstanding player. Koroduadua also kicked two penalties. ' U4B inter-island PA Blenheim North beat South 17-3 in the under 18 inter-island rugby match in Blenheim bn Saturday. North led 13-0 at half-time. Scorers: North 17 (Enosi Kaloto, Ed Kohlhase, and Warren Jennings, tries; Denis Tocker, conversion and penalty). South 3 (Dave Monteath, penalty).
