Six pot out of race
PA Auckland Six horses were put out of the race as a result of Jill Baker breaking at the end of 400 metres in the Mokau Mobile Pace, the third leg of the TAB treble. Alexandra Park on Saturday evening. Master Nardin, driven by his owner-trainer, Ron Carmichael, finished first, but was disqualified following an inquiry into the smash. Petite Maitre, which finished second, was promoted to first. The stipendiary committee found that Master Nardin
had hung in on Jill Baker in spite of Carmichael's effort to keep him straight. In the ensuing mix-up Turf Idol, and Good Evader dislodged their drivers, while Battleship. Smokey Lobell and Bonnie Dunloe had to be pulled up. and Our Gaines. Donne, Sika Dream and Petite Maitre received checks of varying degrees. No penalty was imposed on Carmichael because he had taken immediate corrective action. Carmichael was warned, however, to improve Master Nardin's hanging tendency.
