U.S. bans sales to Pakistan
NZPA New York The United States Government has forbidden firms making equipment for nuclear reactors to sell parts to Pakistan. "Newsweek” magazine said in its most recent issue. The Administration had made the move in the belief that Pakistan, which is said to wish to build a reactor at Chasma. would not respect international principles concerning such plants, said "Newsweek."
Westinghouse Electric, one of the main firms affected by the ban. had intended to get round it by supplying Pakistan through Belgian companies working under Westinghouse licence.
The article also said that Westinghouse, a major Pentagon supplier, was ready to yield to the Administration’s policy.
