Anger over brew
Islanders angered by the deaths of 60 people poisoned by locally-brewed alcohol at a harvest festival, have set fire to six liquor shops on the southern Isle of Vypin, AllIndia Radio reported. The State-run radio said that extra police had been sent to the small island off the south-western state of Kerala. The chief Minister of the State (Mr K. Kayunakaran) has visited local hospitals where some 700 victims are recovering from the deadly brew—New Delhi.
