Mr Jeremy Rolfe, secretary of the Avian Welfare Project, with an Australian coot which was found in Bishopdale with breast and wing injuries after flying into an object. The birds, which are fully protected, have established a colony in the North Island, but are rarely found in cities. The injured bird will be taken to Lake Heron later this week, when it has fully recovered.
