1 A South African, John ( Berry, was forced to abondon ! , his bid to live in a cage of 28 poisonous snakes for a world record of 70 days after being bitten by a baby puff adder. John, aged 21, was feeding the 23cm snake when it bit him during the thirty-eighth day of his record attempt in Rhyl, North Wales. Within minutes, his hand had swollen and he was taken from the sealed glass cage at Rhyl’s Ocean Beach funfair to hospital in nearby Bodelwyddan—London.
