Miners again busy

The mining and oil sector was again busy, on an otherwise moderately active, easier New Zealand sharemarket yesterday. The N.Z.U.C. mining index firmed 1.72 points, but prices were mixed. L and M Oil gained 3c, N.Z. Petroleum sc, and Southern Cross Minerals 13c, but Cue Energy and Mineral Resources (N.Z.) each eased Ic. Among the industrials, Feltex lost 1c to 159 c in spite of a reasonable profit report, and there was no reaction from trading in City Realties which had announced a profit of more than $1 million., Aurora Group, another Wellington-based property company, rose 10c. Spedding lost 15c, and Command Services Corporation and Teltherm 10c each.
