Taxi-driving school for jobless
PA Hastings A training school for unemployed people interested in taxi-driving was likely to start in November, the New Zealand Taxi Proprietors' Federation conference in Hastings was told yesterday. Discussions were being held with various Government departments and the federation to set up the school.
The conference was, told that Auckland alone could provide work for. another 100 taxi-drivers.
The .school would be based at a technical institute in Auckland and involve instruction in basic mechanics, first aid, defensive driving, and practical driving exercises. At least 12 people could attend each course, three to four weeks in duration.
