Fire station upgraded
PA Wellington Rooms for women had' now been provided at all permanently manned fire stations except Dunedin, the Fire Service Commission has said. The commission’s annual report said that the Dunedin station would be brought up to the "required standard” in the coming year. At present, two women fire officers have been recruited and are now working in Auckland. The report, tabled in Parliament yesterday said that the cost of installing rooms for women at stations was “slightly more" than originally planned, but no cost was given.
