Poetry Contest
Fad magazine, a national magazine for children, recently organised a poetry writing competition . for its readers.. Young poets were allowed to write on any topic of their choice. Prizes for' •' the entrants, and their schools, were provided in three separate age groups. Three sisters from Christchurch, Katherine, Sarah and Rachel Quigley, were among the winners. Bush Land Ferns, Water moving, Cold green moss, Trees creaking, swaying too, Dark green leaves, Birds singing, Sun. Damian Heke, 8 yrs.

Hawk Wings whirring the big bird hawk hovers low over me. I think what tricks I’d do if I were he, spiralling up, going like an arrow after food; looping and swooping to descend. Matthew Te Wake, 13 yrs.
Delinquent They don’t make the liquor, .■ They don't run the bars, They don’t make the rules, And they don’t make the cars.
