NZPA London Dennis Lillee and Rod Marsh were defended yesterday by England’s captain. Bob Willis, in the bets roW over last season’s dramatic Headingley test. Lillee has admitted that he and Marsh won $15,000 between them by backing England to win at 500-1. “I hope nobody infers that
they could have thrown the match,'' said Willis, who was playing under Mike Brearley and' clinched England’s turnabout triumph with final bowling figures of eight for 43. ' ■ “It’s not often you get odds of 500-1 in a two-horse race — and Dennis and Rod were shrewd enough to recognise it.’’
